Scoil Ghlas (Green Schools)

Tá ár scoil cláraithe anois ins an tionscnamh seo ó An Taisce.

Tá coiste glas láidir againn ar scoil le hionadaithe ó rang 3-6 air. Déanann said an-obair ag cinntiú go bhfuil bruscar á scaigeadh i gceart. Táimid ag iarraidh laghdú ar an méid atáimid ag caitheamh amach. Tá ár gcéad brat ag teastáil uainn. Táimid an bhuíoch de Jim Callery ó Comhairle Contae a chabhraigh linn ag tús an próiséis seo. Tá seacht gcéim le leanúint agus tríd cruinniú ar Zoom, cabhraigh sé linn dul tríd na céimeanna. Go raibh maith agat a Jim. Bhí plean gnímh curtha le chéile againn agus táimid ag iaraidh bruscar a laghdú sa scoil.

Ní neart go cur le chéile mar a deireann an sheanfhocal. Táimid ar fad ag obair le chéile ar son ár dtimpeallacht, ag obair le chéile le haghaidh todhchaí inbhuanaithe

Green schools

Our school is now registered in Green Schools, an initiative by An Taisce. We have a strong green schools committee with representatives from Rang 3-6 on it. We want to decrease the amount we throw into our rubbish bins. We are working towards our first flag.  We are very grateful to Jim Callery from Wicklow county council who has helped us with the process. We are so thankful for his input and guidance.

There are seven steps involved at the beginning of the process of setting up a green schools and it will take 2 years to achieve the first green flag but we are on the right road to our award.

Our committee put an action plan together at the beginning of this process with the overall aim to reduce rubbish in our school.

Ní neart go cur le chéile mar a deireann an sheanfhocal. We are working together to protect our environment, working together for a sustainable future. inbhuanaithe

Scoil Ghníomhach (Active Schools)

Tá Gaelscoil Chill Mhantáin ag glacadh páirt i gclár na Roinne Oideachais, ‘Brat Scoile Gníomhaí’. Is breá linn bheith gníomhach in ár scoil.

Is cuid lárnach na scoile é. Cuirtear clár fairsing corpoideachais ar fáil do gach dalta ó rang Naíonán Shóisir ar aghaidh. Creidimid go láidir go mbaineann féin mhuinín, sláinte coirp is intinne le páistí a bheith gníomhach is faoin aer.

Tá coiste againn agus tá múinteoirí agus páistí ar an gcoiste seo. Is clár é Scoil Ghníomhaí a thugann aitheantas do scoileanna a spreagann gníomhaíochtaí fisiciúla agus corpoideachais i bpobal na scoile. Cuirfear gníomhaíochtaí fisiciúla ar fáil ar fud na scoile.

Faoi láthair tá gach saghas spóirt ar siúl againn idir peil ghaelach, Ioga le Óga Yoga, sacar, cispheil agus lúthchleasaíocht. Bíonn sos ghníomhach ag na páistí go rialta. Gluais go rialta. Gluais go minic.

Cuirfear seachtain ghníomhach scoile ar fáil do phobal na scoile roimh dheireadh na scoilbhliana. Bhí cuairt againn ó Sene Naopu, Aine O Gorman thar na blianta chun labhairt le na páistí. Bhí Brain Grooves againn le Zoe Patterson ó FYI freisin.

Scoil Ghníomhach (Active Schools)

Gaelscoil Chill Mhantáin is taking part in the Department of Education’s Active Schools flag award. We like to be active in our school.

It’s a big part of our school. We provide the children with a range of sports for physical education, from Junior infants up to 6th class. We believe that fresh air and exercise is important for noth the physical and mental health of our students.

We have an active schools committee and we have both students and teachers on board. The Active schools programme recognises schools who promote physical education and exercise as part of the school week.

This year, we offer Gaelic football, Yoga and Irish Dancing from teachers outside of the school as well as Athletics, Basketball and soccer during the week. The children have active breaks as well as their usual playtimes and we encourage the children to move regularly.

An active schools week takes place every year and we have had visits, in person and virtually from Sene Naoupu ( Imreoir rugbaí) and Aine O Gorman ( imreoir sacair) as well as a visit from Wicklow’s GAA ladies team.

Zoe Patterson, from FYI has guided us through our steps also with the help of her Brain Grooves programme.

An extensive range of sports are part of our physical education from Infants to 6th class. We believe fresh air and activity is important for the mental and physical health of our children.

We have an Active schools’ committee and there is children and teachers on the committee.
