Board of Management Meeting 07/11/17
New School: The plan for the new school is ongoing and the design team are working on stage 3 of the process. The Chairperson and the Principal visited Gaelscoil Portlaoise, a school also on an educational campus to discuss issues around the running of an educational campus. We also got a tour of their new building, a building that will be similar to our new one , and to see the children playing on the yard at break time. That Gaelscoil currently have more numbers than we have and they feel that there is enough space for all to play in.
The Parents Committee have given the Board a cheque for €13,053.71 of the monies fundraised last year for the purchase of a new Irish Reading scheme and additional books in the Book Rental Scheme. Again we would like to thank them for all their efforts on behalf of the children of the school.
The Board of Management would like to congratulate all the boys and girls who have taken part in football, hurling and camogie blitz’s recently. All teams have done excellently and they continue to be great ambassadors for the school.
The school under the stewardship of Deputy Principal Nora are currently doing an audit of the books in the school library and are looking at setting up a proper library system. If anyone has any children’s books at home in good condition that they were considering recycling, the school would be grateful if they could be donated to the school.
The after school club “Ray of Sunshine” will be starting in the school in January.
Five windows were broken in the school recently during Hurricane Ophelia.
